MAN UNITED TRANSFER KITTY ‘REVEALED’
Or should we say ‘understood’? That is the line in The Sun, who claim that ‘club owners the Glazers will come up with a £200m transfer kitty’. It sounds like a guess but it might be a pretty good guess. Have they spent that much in one summer before? Nope. They came pretty close in Jose Mourinho’s first summer when they signed Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly, but they have never burst through the £200m barrier.
Even Liverpool only spent £177m last summer, and they shelled out a fortune. In 2017, Manchester City spent over £220m when they signed all those full-backs, Ederson and Bernardo Silva. That’s the kind of spending United might need to truly compete with City and Liverpool next season.
BARELLA TO NAPOLI?
Nicolo Barella has been strongly linked with both Manchester United and Chelsea, but Sky Sport Italia has another idea – they claim that Napoli want the Cagliari midfielder to replace Marek Hamsik, who is heading to China to earn rather a lot of money.
Barella is just 21 and is already a full Italian international; he will be in incredibly high demand this summer. Sky Sport Italia claim that Napoli are prepared to pay £40m for Barella; if United have a £200m transfer kitty, they might be able to blow that offer out of the water.
