Liam Millar has joined Kilmarnock on loan after signing a new ‘long-term’ Liverpool contract.

Millar joined the Liverpool academy in July 2016 after spending three years in Fulham’s youth set-up.

The 19-year-old signed his first professional contract in 2017 but has now put pen to paper on what the Anfield club have termed a ‘long-term’ deal.

Millar, capped four times by Canada, impressed for Steven Gerrard’s Liverpool Under-18s, before making the step up to the Under-23s.

He was the club academy’s top scorer with 19 goals last season, and will now hope to reinforce Kilmarnock’s unlikely Scottish Premiership title bid.

Steve Clarke’s side are third in the table, level on points with Gerrard’s Rangers, and six behind Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic. Big up that Liverpool connection.
