Mesut Ozil has rejected the chance to leave Arsenal on loan after Paris Saint-Germain made a late offer for the German midfielder, according to reports.
On Wednesday, the Ligue 1 giants announced that record signing Neymar will be out for the next 10 weeks with an injury, leading to the club switching their priorities in the transfer market.
German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung claims that PSG have approached Ozil over a possible loan move – but he has told them he doesn’t want to leave on a temporary deal.
Despite Arsenal being prepared to let Ozil leave the club and PSG willing to cover his £350k-a-week wages, the playmaker has no intention of leaving.
PSG boss Thomas Tuchel sees Ozil as a stop-gap while he waits for Neymar to return to fitness after the Brazilian broke his metatarsal and will miss both legs of their Champions League tie against Manchester United.
Ozil returned to Unai Emery’s starting line-up against Cardiff City on Tuesday but he has found it hard to force his way into the side on a regular basis this season.
