Mauricio Pochettino had no complaints about the result as Crystal Palace beat his Tottenham side 2-0 in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday.

Goals from Connor Wickham and Andros Townsend in the first half was enough to dump Spurs out of the FA Cup, only a few days after losing to Chelsea in their League Cup semi-final.

“It was a fair result,” Pochettino told reporters. “They scored and we didn’t. I can’t say anything about that. We can talk about possession and shots but if you don’t score you don’t deserve to win games.

“We came from a crazy fixture schedule and we were forced to make some changes. This season is tough and it’s going to be a massive challenge for us.

“We knew it would be a tough season for us but not as tough as it has been. We’re out of two competitions since Wednesday and we’re disappointed.

“In the last few weeks I’ve listened a lot to many things because in the last few seasons we were close. People wish that in the end we win some trophies, but realistic we are doing so well.

“To win a title here in England like the FA Cup or Carabao Cup is to have luck as well as quality in your squad.”
