Tottenham sanctioned moves for three players but Mauricio Pochettino refused to complete the deals, according to reports.

Pochettino revealed on Friday that Spurs were working on some “options” in the January transfer window after previously saying he did not think he would make any additions this month.

He had even stuck to his guns in the wake of two big injury blows, which have seen Harry Kane and Dele Alli ruled out until March.

Asked whether there was a chance of making a signing ahead of Thursday’s 11pm deadline, Pochettino said: “Always, we’ll see. Still six days. We are working. (We have) a few options.”

And the Daily Mail claims that Pochettino does have money available in this transfer window as he looks to ‘breathe life’ into Tottenham’s season.

Daniel Levy was prepared to ‘spend significantly’ if Pochettino had asked him to make funds available for new players in the current transfer window.

Pochettino wants to keep his squad balanced and is wary of making it bloated to ‘maintain harmony’ amongst the group, which has led to him pursuing the likes of Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen and Leeds United’s Jack Clarke, instead of so-called big names.

It is almost a year since Tottenham last made a signing when they brought Lucas Moura to the club last January.

The report adds that over the past year, Spurs sanctioned transfers for Ross Barkley, Jack Grealish and Gylfi Sigurdsson, only for Pochettino to ‘declare himself unconvinced’.
