Manchester United have cleared up the confusion surrounding Paul Pogba’s ankle surgery.

Early reports suggested United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had left Pogba out of their 2-0 loss to Arsenal on Wednesday as he had grown ‘tired’ of his antics.

Other quarters claimed the Frenchman was undergoing surgery on the advice of ‘his people’, not the club, drawing criticism from Robin Van Persie and Rio Ferdinand.

But United have moved to dismiss claims of a difference in opinion over the proposed ankle surgery.

And BBC football reporter Simon Stone has revealed the club, Pogba and ‘his people’ agreed the operation  is needed.

The briefing, reported by Stone on Twitter, also confirmed that United are looking to strengthen the midfield in January.
