Manchester United have made a £20million bid for Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen, according to reports in Italy.
A lot of the transfer talk surrounding United‘s need for a creative midfielder has centred around James Maddison‘s availability at Leicester City.
Any move, particularly in January, seems extremely unlikely. Not only because of the reported huge fee the Foxes will no doubt demand but also the league positions of the clubs and Maddison’s happiness at the King Power Stadium.
A potential alternative that United could pursue would be Eriksen, with FC Inter News (via Sport Witness) claiming the Red Devils have made a £20million offer for the Denmark international.
Eriksen has been tipped to leave Spurs this month, although manager Jose Mourinho has stated he doesn’t know if that will happen.
The 27-year-old doesn’t appear to want to sign a new deal with the club, and will leave for nothing in the summer if he does not go in January.
Tottenham are ready to ‘push’ Eriksen into Man Utd’s arms with the report claiming Spurs chairman Daniel Levy phoned Eriksen’s agent on Wednesday.
The report continues by suggesting that Inter Milan are still in pole position to land Eriksen despite Man Utd’s bid.
