MADDISON UP FOR UNITED MOVE
The news of Manchester City’s European ban came too late on Friday for many whispers about the future of their players to gain any traction this morning. They will come tomorrow, no doubt…
So for now, the Gossip continues to swirl across the other side of Manchester.
The Daily Star tells us nothing we didn’t already know in their story about United wanting James Maddison, Jack Grealish and Jadon Sancho. The Manchester Evening News puts a little more meat on the Maddison bones by quoting a source close to the Leicester star as saying ‘he would have been at United years ago’ if it was up to him.
POGBA PRICE SLASHED AGAIN
Apparently, much depends on whether or not United can shift Paul Pogba. The France midfielder has spent most of the season trying to whittle down his value to smooth the way for a summer exit, and it seems to be doing the trick. United wanted at least £150million last year but The Guardian reckons they’ll accept £83million at the end of the season, less than what they paid for him.
Presumably the looming European Championships might force Pogba to put his boots on in the coming months and United can only hope the motivation of playing for France will inspire the midfielder to push his value up, rather than any drive to perform for the club that pays his wages.
DIER ON RED DEVILS’ RADAR
To temper the interest in the likes of Maddison, Grealish and Sancho, the Daily Star also says United are keen on Eric Dier.
The Tottenham midfielder is set to be put up for sale this summer unless he agrees new terms, which appears unlikely given his lack of game time under Jose Mourinho. Dier can’t really complain – his form has been awful amid a succession of injuries.
But that hasn’t put off Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. United have retained a long-standing interest in Dier, who grew up supporting the Red Devils, and could finally make their move in the coming months.
ARSENAL AND CHELSEA EYE ISCO
It seems that United are one of the few Premier League clubs not chasing Isco.
The Real Madrid playmaker has been linked with an exit for what feels like forever but this summer might finally see him quit the Bernabeu. Because Real are plotting a rebuild which needs paying for.
El Desmarque reckons Arsenal and Chelsea are among the clubs looking to chip in so long as they get Isco in exchange for around £63million. City are also credited with an interest but they will have a rather more difficult time now selling themselves to the Spain midfielder.
