Thierry Henry is facing the sack at Ligue 1 strugglers Monaco after only three months in charge, according to reports.
Monaco are in the Ligue 1 relegation zone – three points adrift of safety – and have only won three of their 21 league matches this campaign.
Henry took over in October to try and halt their slide, however, the French outfit have picked up just two wins in 12 league matches since the Arsenal legend’s appointment.
And the Daily Mirror claims Henry will be ‘told in the next 48 hours’ that he will be losing his job after Monaco were knocked out of the Coupe de France with a 3-1 loss to Metz on Tuesday.
In a change of heart, Monaco will turn to Leonardo Jardim – who is the man they replaced with Henry in October – to drag them away from the relegation zone, the report adds.
In Saturday’s 5-1 loss to Strasbourg, cameras captured Henry telling defender Kenny Lala that “it’s the 43rd minute,” adding “oh, come on, stop now, it’s enough,” then insulting him in French. The phrase Henry used translates roughly as “your grandmother’s a wh*re”.
Henry apologised for the incident but it is understood to have been the final straw for the Monaco hierarchy.
Despite speculation surrounding his future at the club, Henry’s focus was still on getting Monaco out of trouble when he spoke to the press this week.
“My future? Owners would decide when they need to decide. I am more worried for Monaco’s future. I already said that,” Henry told reporters at a news conference.
“I will repeat. No need to always ask the same question, I would answer the same thing – Atletico Madrid have been relegated in the 90s with stronger players than us. [Real] Zaragoza as well more recently as you know. I could talk about all the leagues.
“We are in this situation, even if it was Coupe de France and now we are out but this weekend against Dijon in Ligue 1 it’s going to be war.”
