Marseille, meanwhile, find themselves in fifth place, but victory against their rivals could see them move within five points of the summit.

Alves, however, was dismissive of his latest opponents, and asserted that their teamsheet was a mystery to him.

“I couldn’t name you a single Marseille player,” the outspoken Brazilian, who has been ruled out of the match with a thigh injury , said to  Canal Plus.

More than a few Marseille stars might take exception at that assertion – especially the likes of Patrice Evra and Luiz Gustavo.

Evra played alongside Alves last season at Juventus before joining Marseille in January, while Gustavo has 41 caps for Brazil and even shared a place in the Selecao’s 2014 World Cup squad with PSG’s star.
