FARGO, N.D. — The Green defeated the Gold 26-14 in the annual North Dakota State University intra-squad scrimmage on Sunday, Nov. 5, before 225 spectators in the Scheels Center at the Sanford Health Complex. The event featured three pins and three overtime matches.

Kyle Gliva and Sam Hampton were double-winners for the Green, which also came up with all three pins during the afternoon.

Gliva, a 149-pound redshirt senior from Inver Grove Heights, Minn., opened with a 7-5 sudden victory-1 overtime win over fellow senior Mitch Bengtson. He came back with a 4-3 decision over another Mitch Friedman in the highly-contested weight class to close out the win for the Green.

Hampton, a 141-pound redshirt freshman from Blue Springs, Mo., had 2:31 of riding time to edge Nate Smith in his first match. Hampton trailed 8-2 in his second match, but turned the tables and pinned Nico Colunga with :41-seconds left in the third period for the win.

A pair of returning starters had the go the distance for the win. Three-time NCAA qualifier Clay Ream used an escape with :11-seconds left in overtime for a 5-4 decision over Nick Mergen.

Tyler McNutt, a 184-pound redshirt junior from Saint Joseph, Mo., notched a takedown in the final seconds for a 3-1 decision over redshirt freshman Cole Witzig.

North Dakota State is scheduled to host the 47th annual Bison Open at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Scheels Center.
