As a COVID-19-related precautionary measure, AEW World Champion Jon Moxley won’t be appearing on tonight’s episode of Dynamite.

“Recently @JonMoxley had contact with someone who had contact with someone who has COVID-19. Mox did the right thing & warned us. Doc asked him to stay home & get tested to protect us here at our test site. Cage will be in action tonight on #AEWDynamite ahead of their title fight,” AEW president and CEO Tony Khan announced today.

“Jon Moxley can get slammed on a car, crawl through tacks & fall through the stage, but it’s every bit as cool that he came forward & told us he’d had secondhand exposure to COVID. We test everyone here at #AEWDynamite, but Jon protected everyone onsite like the great champ he is.”

Moxley was originally supposed to be in action tonight in a match where Cage’s manager Taz was going to be on commentary.

Cage’s opponent for tonight’s show hasn’t been announced. Cage is set to challenge for Moxley’s AEW World Championship at Fyter Fest, which is a two-week event that begins next Wednesday. Part two of Fyter Fest will then air the following week.

Moxley is the second wrestler to be pulled from tonight’s Dynamite as a precautionary measure. Khan announced earlier today that QT Marshall is also off tonight’s show: “Since last week’s show, in his everyday life, QT had brief contact with a non-wrestling acquaintance who since tested positive for COVID-19. Rather than risk bringing QT to our test site, our doc asked him to stay home & take a COVID test back in GA to protect the rest of us here”

FTR had been set to face Marshall & Dustin Rhodes tonight. It will now be FTR vs. SCU’s Christopher Daniels & Frankie Kazarian.
