Jurgen Klopp doesn’t think Kyle Walker should have been “allowed” to use his social media to have a dig at Liverpool after their 1-1 draw at home to Leicester City.
The Reds had the opportunity to move seven points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League but had to settled for a point after Harry Maguire equalised just before half-time.
And after the match Walker posted a picture of Maguire talking to his partner with the caption: “So basically they thought they were gonna go 7 points ahead…”
The post was quickly deleted by the City defender but only after a huge backlash from Liverpool supporters.
“I never celebrated that another team dropped points or lost a game,” Klopp told reporters.
“For me, that’s not allowed. You have to do your own things, you have to try to show your best performance. For supporters it’s different but for people involved…”
When asked about the possibility of his team suffering from title nerves, Klopp added: “We use our brains from time to time. It’s a situation in sport, you have to create an atmosphere, mood and belief in the team over the full season.
“In our case, over last three-and-a-half years. We’ve had a lot of tight games over the years.
“We’ve got to finals, we didn’t lose them because of nerves. We’ve had a lot of tight situations and we have done it. We do what we always do, we handle our situation in our own way.
“If you want to win something, there’ll be a bunch of people who hope you win and another bunch who hope you lose. It’s better to pretty much ignore both and then hopefully at the end of the season celebrate with the people who hope you win.”
